Dr. King's message
King's message is still very much relevant to troubles today concerning race. His message is perfect for students to hear. He has an amazing speaking voice and it is wonderful for students to see him, the mammoth crowd of supporters, and the Lincoln Memorial in the background. We have many great resources in the library to celebrate and share Dr. King's message.
Find the words to his important speech here at the National Archives.
How can you share his message with students?
If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
